Malapascua Island

Malapascua Island is located in North of Cebu. From Cebu City, we took ride from North Bus Terminal via Bus. It took us 3 Hours and a half before we reached Maya Port in Daan Bantayan. There are stop overs where you can take a break from the long ride, eat, and relax a bit. When you reach Maya port, you will to take a boat to bring you to Malapascua Island. Boat fee is Php100 only. In case low tide, the boat will not be able to dock on the port so you need to take a ride with a small boat to take you to the main boat. Small boat costs Php20 only. On the way to the island, the waves were a little bit big but do not be scared with it. It is already natural on going to Malapascua. The sea was splashing into the front of boat so in case you are sitting in front, just be prepared for the splashing waters.

It took us 20 minutes before we reached the island. It was low tide when we reached Malapascua island, so we needed to ride on the small boat again and pay the Php20 fee for it.

We had Lunch in Cocobana, the place is great and the food is sumptuous but a bit pricey. There are many places to dine at the inner part of the place. The ones which are not in the beach front area.

We took the island tour where we went around the island. It costs P1400 for us. We stopped over in some parts of the island. There was a part of the island where the beach was very blue. It is like it was dyed. It was my first time to see such beach with very blue waters and very fine sand. We really love the beach!

We also stopped over in another part of the island where the boatman’s family where swimming. They are very generous. They let us join them and enjoy their food. Their food was very yummy!

Malapascua Island has very fine sands and crystal clear water. It is a very peaceful and quite place which is perfect for vacation! Many foreigners visit the island because of it. The island also offers scuba diving where you will have the chance to watch the thresher sharks. Thresher sharks are large lamniform sharks of the family Alopiidae found in all temperate and tropical oceans of the world like here in the Philippines. They have tails or caudal fins which can be as long as the body of the shark itself.

We stayed in Roquesa’s vacation rooms. It is just behind the beach front hotel. Less than a minute walk to the beach. The rooms are very huge and spacious. You can contact Roquesa at 09361728244

We went into a bar to enjoy the night. We had some drinks. The place was like Boracay Island but is it a more quiet version of it.  All the bars, restaurants, and other establishments there close at 12 midnight so we had to continue drinking in our room.

During the morning, we walked at the inner parts of the island to find affordable food for breakfast and fortunately, there are lots of restaurants there offer affordable foods. There are different kinds of food which will surely fit  your taste.

I rate Malapascua Island 5 Stars! It is a very beautiful, clean, and peaceful island. We are planning on going back there someday.
