Boracay Island - First Day
We booked a flight in Cebu
Pacific for my birthday. It was a flight to Caticlan, Aklan which is very near
to Boracay Island. This is my first birthday getaway Boracay Island is the
place I picked for it. Our flight was 8:55am. We checked in very early in the
airport. We were excited going to the island.
I won this stuff during the mini-game in the airplane.
The Beautiful Island of Boracay!
When we are about to land in Boracay Airport, we passed above Boracay Island. The white sands, and boats sailing are very visible from above.
It took us less than an hour to
reach Caticlan. We landed in Boracay Airport. The airport is small but very
clean and organized.
Upon checking out, we had to register at the front desk.
We filled up information like purpose of visit, booked hotel, and others.
From the airport, we took a
tricycle their going to Jetty Port. Tricycle rate is Php50 and you must also
pay the boat fare there which is Php25. There is another options lessen the
cost of going to the port. When you get out of the airport, turn right then go
straight to the exit then turn left and walk straight until you reach the
highway. At the highway, you can take tricycles going to Jetty Port. Rate is
Php7 each person. The airport is near from Jetty Port.
We reached Jetty Port for a few
minutes only. Upon reaching the port, there is terminal fee Php100 and
environmental fee P75 each. There are many people in the port going to Boracay
Island but everyone get to the island fast since there are many boats go to the
island at the same time.
It took us 15 minutes to reach the island.
When we reached Boracay Island,
we took a tricycle to bring us to D’ Talipapa in Station 2. The tricycle rate
was Php20 each.
D’ Talipapa is place where there are souvenir shops and food
shops. It was noon when we reached there. Our friend’s cousin was waiting for
us. His name is Elimar. He is very friendly and you can ask him about the place
and guidance. Their family owns a souvenir shop there. They have bracelets,
frog purse, wallets, and other items. Their souvenir store numbers 92 and 93 of
D’ Talipapa. He gave us discounts with the items we bought and we were grateful
with it. T-shirts, board shorts, and other beach attires are sold at low prices
there. You can buy 2 t-shirts for Php150 only. He helped us find the cheapest
room. All room rates were very high due to summer, the peak season.
We were glad he referred us to
Amigo’s Beach Resort. It is located at the end of D’ Talipapa and it is very near the beach.
It is just 2 minutes walk to the beach. The hotel is very clean and the staff
and owners are very friendly and accommodating. They gave us all we needed with a
smile. The room rate which is good for 4 is P2,500(Peak Season Rate).
The room is clean and huge. It has 2 huge beds, a flat screen
television, refrigerator, vault, comfort room, sink and veranda. Their vault is
very useful. All our important stuffs were secured there. We set the vault’s
password to ensure that we were the only ones who were able to open it. The
vault is very important since we were always out of the hotel. I just noticed most
people who checked in the hotel that time were foreigners.
We were very hungry that time already
and we wanted to eat much at low price so we decided to have lunch at Mang
Inasal. It is just in D’ Talipapa. Food rates are very affordable and they have
unlimited rice. We were very full and saved a lot.
The beach in Boracay is different from the places I have been. The sands are very fine and the water is crystal clear. The shore line is very wide and cover white fine sand. No wonder why this island is called paradise.
There are many establishments at
the beach front. There plenty of restaurants, bars, spas, malls, and others.
While walking, there are many vendors along the way selling different stuffs
like monopods, waterproof case, and others. There are also many people who
offered different rides like paraw sailing, parasailing, helmet diving water
exploration, ATV, and others.
At D' Mall in Station 2, it has many stores and fun activities like Wall Climbing, Ferris Wheel, and others. We decided drop by there buy stuffs that we need.
There is this restaurant caught our attention in the mall. All of their staff are short people that is why they call the it "The Hobbit House". Hobbits are small people in the movie "The Lord of the Rings".
The paraw sailing, some offers
us Php300 each with a minimum of 4 persons. On riding the paraw, you sit at the net-like
seat at the sides. Unlike regular boats which usually people sit at the center. There are many
of it in the island.
Then sunset scenery in Boracay is stunning. The sun sets down at the sea. It looks like it is submerging into it the water and the sky looks pinkish purple.
During the evening, Boracay is very alive and there are many night activities. Restaurants and bars place tables and chairs at the shore for good ambiance on dining and chilling. There are bands and discos to lighten up the night.
We celebrated my special day during
the evening. It was just a little celebration but it was a very memorable moment
for me.
There were children who made a
sand lettering of Boracay. Unfortunately, there are no longer sand castles seen
in the shores due to their new law which prohibits making of sand castles
unlike before due to some reasons. We were amazed by the children, they are
very artistic and creating things out of the sand are just very easy for them
at very young age. I do not know how to create castles and others out of sand.
I wish I have that skill too.
This sand mermaid caught our
attention. It looked like sand and we were stunned when it moved. Many took
pictures with the sand mermaid. I find the locals there very creative and got
plenty of ideas to think things to earn.
There are many fire dancers along
the shore. They are amazing and dancing with fire seems to be so easy for them.
There are few institutes which teach fire dancing and they are in Manila and
Cebu only. It takes a lot of skill in order to perform fire dance well and also
to avoid fire accidents. Fire dancers wear few clothes on performing. Most of
them tone their bodies so they will look good on the floor.
Seabreeze café offers sumptuous dishes
and great ambiance upon dining. Their chefs cook outside the café. Apart from
the great food, they also have these dancing chefs. They entertained all of
the people there. They seem to love performing with their chef uniforms.
There are many bars in the island
and there is no entrance fee in the bar. Their drinks cost Php65 per bottle.
You can also buy a set. We decided to have drinks and listen to acoustic band
in Reyes Barbeque and relax rather than party. You can sing along with band on
stage and sing the songs you like. The band and the people would love to listen.
